A pipette is also called a pipette gun, which is a measuring tool that transfers liquid from the original container to another container within a certain range. It is widely used in biology, chemistry and other fields.
Pipettes are widely used in clinical laboratories because of their simple basic structure and convenient use. Its basic structure mainly includes several parts such as display window, volume adjustment parts, piston, O-ring, suction tube and suction head (suction nozzle).

The design of micropipettes commonly used in clinical practice is based on Hooke's law: the length of the spring extension is proportional to the elastic force within a certain limit, that is, the volume of liquid in the pipette is proportional to the spring force in the pipette.

There are two physical principles of micropipette adding samples: using an air cushion to add samples and using a positive displacement piston without an air cushion to add samples. These two micropipettes with different principles have different specific application ranges

Common classification:
According to the working principle, it can be divided into air displacement pipette and forward displacement pipette;
According to the number of pipettes that can be installed at the same time, it can be divided into single-channel pipettes and multi-channel pipettes;
According to whether the scale is adjustable, it can be divided into fixed pipettes and adjustable pipettes;
According to the adjustment scale method, it can be divided into manual pipette and electric pipette;
According to the special purpose, it can be divided into fully disinfected pipettes, large-capacity pipettes, bottle-top pipettes, continuous injection pipettes, etc.

Precautions:
In the process of adjusting the pipette, the knob should not be turned too fast, nor should it exceed its maximum or minimum range, otherwise the volume will be inaccurate, and the internal mechanical devices will be easily blocked and the pipette will be damaged.
In the process of assembling the pipette tip, repeatedly hitting the pipette strongly with the pipette will not tighten it. Long-term operation will cause the parts in the pipette to loosen, and in severe cases, it will cause the knob to adjust the scale to get stuck.
When there is liquid in the pipette tip, do not place the pipette horizontally or upside down, so as to prevent the liquid from flowing back and corroding the piston spring.
When performing high-temperature disinfection of a pipette, you should first check whether the pipette you are using is suitable for high-temperature disinfection before processing.
